Our hospitals continue to be incredibly busy and we’re asking our communities to help us protect care for those who need it most by only attending the emergency department for a life-threatening illness or injury. We're also asking friends and loved ones of patients ready for discharge to help support with getting them home at the earliest opportunity. Thank you for your support in ensuring we can continue providing urgent care to all who need us.

Hampshire’s new Elective Hub has now been given the green light and building work at the Royal County Hampshire Hospital in Winchester will now begin. The new facility will provide more capacity and allow more planned orthopaedic operations to take place, therefore improving access and reducing waiting lists across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.

At the same time as building the new Elective Hub, we will also be commencing the construction of a new orthopaedic outpatient facility at the Royal Hampshire County Hospital. Scheduled to open in the summer 2025 to further support the delivery of planned operations, this is also part of the Trust’s ongoing commitment and investment into services in Winchester. View the full story here.

We are delighted to be included in the government’s national New Hospital Programme, with a once-in-a-generation opportunity to invest between £700 million and £900 million to improve our hospital facilities and hospital services for decades to come. We’re encouraging our community to get involved and share views on the proposals. Find out more by attending online and in-person listening events, and complete the questionnaire available here.

There's still time to submit your nominations for our Hampshire Hospitals People Awards - be sure to get in quick though with nominations closing very shortly! The HHFT People Awards are an opportunity to recognise the truly remarkable and inspiring things that Hampshire Hospitals staff do every day to care for patients and keep our hospitals running, with patients, their families and our communities able to recognise a member of Team HHFT who has made a big difference to the care they or a loved one has received. Learn more and share your nominations here.

The Care Quality Commission’s (CQC) 2023 Maternity Survey results have been welcomed by the team here at Hampshire Hospitals, with positive progress demonstrated on the previous year’s results, providing reassuring insight for expectant parents. The survey showed year-on-year improvements across the pregnancy, birth, and postnatal journey, with feedback from 243 women and their families - a response rate ten per cent higher than the national average. Read more here.

We're asking patients, local people, partners, and NHS staff to get involved and give their views on proposals for how between £700 million and £900 million should be invested in hospital services to transform healthcare for communities across the county.

The consultation document, which provides more detail on the proposals, is now available at www.hampshiretogether.nhs.uk - you have until midnight on Sunday 17 March to share your feedback. The proposals we are now consulting on have been designed by clinicians, with patients and the public, and are based on clinical evidence and best practice. At their heart is the need to deliver safe, sustainable, high-quality services for the future, with sufficient specialist staff to run services well.

Get involved and have your say, including by attending online and in person listening events, or by completing a questionnaire.
