Pioneering training programme for 'nursing associates' starts
A pioneering programme which will help transform the nursing and care workforce of the future has started at Scarborough and York hospitals and in the community.

The first sixteen trainees have enrolled at York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, which is one of the sites nationally chosen to provide the second wave of training. Once qualified, 'nursing associates' will be able to support registered nurses with a range of duties, within a defined scope of practice.
Trust wins award for bowel disease test
A new method of testing patients for serious bowel complaints has won a regional award for service improvement for York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust at the recent Medipex NHS Innovation Awards.

The pioneering approach, designed by consultant gastroenterologist James Turvill, has revolutionised treatment for hundreds of people in the York area and is set to save £1.4 million for the NHS in the Yorkshire and Humber region. Read More>>>
Name your hero!
The Trust is once again appealing to the public to nominate a staff member or team who they feel deserves special recognition at its annual staff award ceremony.

Nominations for the Trust’s annual staff recognition awards – The Celebration of Achievement Awards – are open until Friday 12 May 2017.

For the fifth successive year patients and families are invited to nominate someone for ‘The Patient Award’ so they can say a public thank you to an outstanding staff member or team. Read More>>>

The Humber Coast and Vale Cancer Alliance are planning to hold a patient and carer event on Thursday 25 May 12.30-4.00 pm, in Hull.

Participants will be able to comment on their cancer plan and have the opportunity to help shape public and patient involvement/participation plans for their cancer improvement work.

At this stage, they are asking you to keep the date free in the diary if you wish to attend; more details to follow.
