Scarborough Energy Centre
opens with guaranteed savings
NHS
Sustainability Day, March 23, marked the perfect
occasion to celebrate the official opening and
handover of the refurbished, low-carbon Energy
Centre at Scarborough Hospital, which has been
delivered by Vital Energi.
The £3.2M project will achieve guaranteed
savings of £512,000 in the first year - a 31 per
cent reduction on current energy bills and
operating costs. Over the course of 15 years the
guaranteed savings will be in excess of £9M.

New Patient
Advice and Liaison Service office opens
On Tuesday 21
March, Trust Chair, Susan Symington, officially
opened York Hospital's new Patient Advice and
Liason Service office.

The new office, located on the Main
Corridor at York Hospital, was funded from
Special Programme Funding and Charitable Funds.
Designed to be more visible and accessible, the
office includes a separate room which provides a
confidential environment where patients and
relatives are able to speak face to face with a
member of the PALS team, if they wish to do so. Read More>>> |

Dementia
Appeal launch
York Teaching
Hospital Charity have launched a new
appeal to raise £200,000 which will help
patients living with dementia during their stay
in their hospitals.

With an aging population, the demand on
our hospitals to provide a dementia friendly
environment and specialised care is only going
to increase.

New
non-executive director joins
board

A new non-executive
director (NED) has been
appointed to serve on the board
of the Trust.
Jenny McAleese was
appointed by the Council of
Governors on 5 January as a
nonexecutive director of the
Trust and also as the chair of
the Audit committee. As with all
non-executive roles this is
initially a three year
appointment.
Jenny took up her
post on
1 March, providing succession to
the Trust’s outgoing Chair of
the Audit Committee, Philip
Ashton, who has served a
distinguished full nine-year
term.
